Respond to this question:

Should sixth graders learn about the Holocaust?

Some parents and teachers believe that sixth graders are not mature enough to learn about the tragedies of the Holocaust. They also believe that sixth graders lack the knowledge of historical events to understand how and why it happened. What is your opinion?

Write a persuasive essay arguing your opinion of this topic.

Your essay must be supported by at least three of the following:

  • your personal experience, and your feelings
  • a quote from The Devil's Arithmetic
  • a quote from a student or adult that you know (you should have this from your 4/11 homework)
  • a quote from at least one of the online sources provided by Mr. Schoch
  • a quote from our guest speaker, Maud Dahme (take notes at the assembly!)
  • a quote from author Jane Yolen in a videotaped speech (here is the poem that she quotes in that speech)
  • remember the Crayons poem that Maud Dahme read called Crayons? Here it, compliments of XX
  • 56mk found another poem called Crayons, which was written by Jane Yolen (author of DA):
