                                          Victory

The Chicago Cubs were in the middle of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies. They were down by six (0-6) at the bottom of the seventh inning and they were just coming of the field after being struck out. There were 7 games until the world series and they had a good record. But this game they were just out of it. They didn't want to be knocked out of the playoffs, because since the beginning of the season, they were determined to win the world series.

They had gotten two outs already and the pitcher was on his third pitch, two were strikes.

"C'mon, Johnny! One more strike and were on, lets go!" yelled Coach Daniels. Johnny Simpson, the Cubs' best pitcher, looked at Coach Daniels, then looked at the catcher's hand signals. He shook his head. Then Bobby Brian, their one and only catcher, made another signal. For this signal, he put his index finger and his thumb down, and Johnny nodded his head.

"Yes" he mouthed. Then he put his body in a straight position, then threw the ball. Slap! The ball hit Bobby's mitt while he fell back from the impact.

"STEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIKE THREEEEE!" yelled the announcer. But still, the Cubs were hanging their heads.

"Lets go, Peter, your up. Grab a bat and get out their." said the coach. Peter Jackson was the Cubs' youngest player, but the hardest hitter. Peter seemed unusually tired, disappointed, and quiet since after their last game. As he stood, looking at the field, bases loaded, he dropped the bat and started to hang his head. The crowed was very enthusiastic when he stepped out of the dugout. The other players sat up to watch what Peter can do this time. The handle of the bat lay against his right foot. He eventually picked it up, and jogged to the base. He mist the first pitch. After, the crowd's screaming and cheering became a low growl. He then missed the second, and the same thing happened. As the pitcher threw the last pitch, Clap! Peter swung the bat with such force and such power, the ball shot into the air. The crowed became silent. Everyone looked up in the air, and saw the ball disappear out of the stadium. After a few seconds, there was a silent crash, then there was a car alarm. "Yaahhhh!" The crowd roared as loud as a dinosaur. They were filled with excitement.

"Graaaaaaand slaaaaaaaam!" yelled the announcer. Now, after trailing by six, the score was 4-6. Everyone who was in the Cubs dugout stood and cheered.

As Peter made his way over to the bench, Coach Daniels said "There we go! Nice job, kid!" Everyone was patting him on the back and the head.

"Nice job, little man." said Christopher Hunter. Christopher is always messing with Peter. He was also a very big guy. "You better hope that wasn't my car!" he said raising his fist.

"Hay hay hay, everyone!" said the coach. "We didn't win yet." he said. They had trouble striking the undefeated Phillies out, but they did. They were now on offense. Now it was the bottom of the ninth inning. They needed two runs. Christopher was up to bat. The crowd, and the players all cheered. He swung, hitting the first ball, having all the outfield players chasing it. He got to second base. Peter was up next. Right before the pitcher threw it, the coach ran onto the field. They huddled, then the coach ran back to the dugout. The pitcher threw it right at Peter's right leg. Peter jumped in the air, dodging the ball, and Bobby lifted his right foot. Then, before you know it, the benches cleared. The Phillies won the fight, but not the game. Right after the fight, Peter had hit the ball and made it to first base. Next, Johnny was put in, and hit a home run. Christopher ran as fast as he could and stepped on the base. Behind him was Johnny who slid just to celebrate. They won the game 7-6. They also beat six other teams, and beat the Saint Louis Cardinals in the world series, 10-9.

"Hey Peter, why did you hang your head and drop the bat when we were playing Philadelphia?" asked Bobby.

"I saw that the row where my my family was supposed to sit, they weren't there."  said Peter. After that, they all went out to celebrate.

Then Coach Daniels said smiling "Now lets start getting ready for next year!"
