The Philadelphia Eagles football team has changed since the 1970's. From coaches, to players, to uniforms, etc. Do you think the 70's team was a better team than the present day team? Both the teams had key players. They also had some big events or plays that happened, and coaches. They both were similar in ways, too. For example, they had both went to the Super Bowl, and both lost.

      The 70's team did not have a lot of key players. Though they did have some, like Bill Bergey, Vince Papale, and Frank Lemaster. Most players did have skill, though. Like speed and strength. The coach at this time was Dick Vermiel. During this season, he had open tryouts. Vince Papale was the only one that made it. The other big thing that happened was the first Miracle at the Medowlands(New York Giants stadium). The Eagles were losing against the Giants, and made a big play and won. The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl around this time.

     The present day team has a lot of key players. One at almost every position.  They have Micheal Vick, DeSean Jackson, Lesean McCoy, etc. The Present day team does have a lot of strength, but their biggest skill is speed. There fastest players are Micheal Vick, DeSean Jackson, and Lesean McCoy in my point of view. The present Eagles have not had a lot of coaches. They had Ray Rhodes, from 1995-1998, who's recored with the Eagles was 27 wins, 34 losses, and 1 tie(27-34-1). Currently, the Eagles have Andie Reid, who has been coaching for 13 years, has never lost a game after a bye week(13-0). His record as a coach for the Eagles is 128-81-1. The present Eagles big event was the second Miracle at the Medowlands. The Eagles came out of a 21 point deficit and won the game stunning the Giants. This was and still is the greatest comeback in Eagles history, and this win also made the Eagles NFC Conference Champions.

     Even though both these teams are clearly different in many ways, they are similar in some ways, too. Both teams have made it to the Super Bowl. The 70's team went with the Raiders, and lost. The present day Eagles went with the Patriots. They lost both. Obviously, another similarity is that they never won a Super Bowl. But one important one is that both teams never gave up. The 70's team was having a terrible year, and they came back and went to the Super Bowl. The present team was recently having a losing season, and came back, but not in time. Their record was 8-8. I hope you can now see that both teams are similar, and different in many ways.
