The article "Are You Up Yet?" states that over one quarter of high school students fall asleep at least once a week in class. Researchers say that hormones in the bodies of teenagers tell these students to stay awake later and to sleep longer. If this is true, then why do high schools start so early? Schools in Somerset County plan to address this problem by starting high school an hour later; however, this requires elementary and middle schools to start an hour earlier. Bedminster School should start at 7:50A.M. so that the high school can start later.
