               Happy Camper

I was leaving for my first day of summer camp! I was so excited, I was bouncing! I put on my overalls and grabbed a t-shirt, then trotted downstairs. I've never been so happy in my entire life!

"Okay, eat up. You're going to have a long day, Suzie." Momma said.

I took a bite of my waffle, and then I lugged my suitcase outside to wait for the bus to pick Alexa and I up.

"Bye sweetie! Have fun at camp!" My dad yelled.

As I waved back at him, I saw Alexa in the distance. She was holding her suitcase, her sleeping bag, and her napsack.

"Hi, Alexa. I'm so excited! How about you?"

"Hey Suzie- Wait... What are you wearing?!? Today's the camp orientation and you need to dress formaly!" She screamed.

I looked down at her floral printed dress.

"I'll go back and change. Watch my stuff for me?" I asked.

She nodded as I rushed home. I looked for my girl scout uniform as I scavenged through my closet. When I found it, I peeled all of the iron-on badges and put it over my t-shirt. I stripped my pants and put on the skirt. I saw Alexa talking to the bus driver.

"Hon, I got a tight shift. You're either on, or you're off." The bus driver lady told her.

Alexa hesitated, mouthed the word "sorry" to me, and then hopped on the bus. I growled. I would be the only one not going to camp!

I went to the kitchen, and told momma I wasn't going to camp. I saw my sister as she walked towards me. I dropped my luggage.

"Awww, Suzie, it's okay. How would we know it was camp orientation? How about this: We'll make a camp one our own! We'll call it, Suzie and Siss' Camp Fun!" She said.

"Thanks, Fran. Okay, so where'll we put it?" I asked.

     "Follow me."

She led me into the side lawn, which was next to her room. I could smell the crisp morning air. She planted flowers, and they we beautiful! Fran was two years older than me. She was my best friend.

We set up an obstacle course in the back yard, a swimming pool (inflatable), and a tent.  We set up a picnic blanket for lunch.

As I was doing the obstacle course, I heard Fran yell from afar.

"SUZIE!!! CHECK IT OUT! ICE CREAM HALF OFF! C'MON BEFORE IT RUNS OUT!!!" She said

I was so thrilled, I headed straight for the ice cream truck. The only thing good that's happened today, I thought.

"OW," I yelled. I did a base-runner slide on the concrete.

     "Are you okay?" Fran asked.

I didn't say a word. I plucked a bunch of flowers from her garden, and ran up to my room, bursting in tears.

When I got to my room, I patched up my wound with a used band aid. I didn't feel like getting one from the kitchen. I put the flowers aside, and took my pet turtle out from his oversized jar. I slumped on my suitcases.

"Shelly, I know I shouldn't bother you while you're in your jar. But, I have to confess. I took Fran's flowers from her garden while she wasn't doing anything wrong. Does this mean I'm a bad person?"

I saw the turtle slightly nod. I could've been hallucinating, but... Still.

This was the worst first-day-of-camp EVER.

Great start. You have lots of dialogue; you might want to include more exposition (narrative/details).

The part that I highlighted doesn't make sense. I like the name Fran, though.
