AMERICA'S BIRDIE

The Hunters of the Wild Lands Museum is seeking nominations for predators to feature in their exhibits. When most people think of predators, they think of sharks, lions, or falcons. The bald eagle has killing in its blood. After all, it is the official bird of the United States. I believe that the bald eagle should be featured in the HOWL Museum's predator exhibit.

First of all, eagles have a very powerful flight which helps when hunting prey. And the bald eagle is no exception. The bald eagle can fly up to 100 miles per hour! Eight foot wings allow bald eagles to stay in flight for hours with ease. The tail feathers help to steer in flight, balance, and brake. Eagles can soar through the sky with amazing perception and great distance.

Secondly, the bald eagle's hunting methods are phenomenal. Imagine soaring through the sky, seeking your prey, and diving down to the river, knowing you caught your own dinner. That's what the eagle does.To catch its prey, the bird flies, ducks, and dives to get its dinner. Then, it uses its sharp talons to get a grip on the soon-dead animal. Its talons are sharper than a knife. While its eating, the bald eagle uses its beak to rip apart the prey if it's too large to swallow in one gulp. I mean, who needs teeth?

Lastly, the bald eagle's senses are essential when it hunts. With their keen eyesight, they can see its dinner from 1,000 feet away! That's more than the length of three football fields! Next, they can smell dead animals from half a mile away. Did you know that bald eagles also have stereoscopic/peripheral vision? This means that it can see two places at once. Forward and sideways, like a chameleon!

After all these reasons, don't YOU also think that the bald eagle should take part in the HOWL museum? I know I do. Like I said before, the bald eagle has killing in its blood and I really think you should consider my thesis. Most people wouldn't expect the bald eagle to be in the exhibit, but it might shock them on how good of hunters they really are. I believe that bald eagles should be featured in the HOWL museum's predator exhibit.
