The Boys Get Even

Have you ever noticed that girls can get away with anything? It seems that if boys do just one little thing, wham! they’re in trouble, but girls can get away with murder. Last summer at camp for example, there was a big food fight, okay maybe the boys started it but the girls were throwing chocolate pudding and dinner rolls just like everybody else, but guess who got in trouble?

When we were dragged into the camp office, Mrs. Jenkins, the camp director, demanded an explanation. We were all too scared to even talk. Finally, our counselor Phil said, "I guess boys will be boys."

But, Mrs. Jenkins replied, "Boys should be gentlemen." That night she made us sweep and mop the whole dining hall and even wash the windows as we worked and sweated until midnight. We vowed to get revenge on the girls for sticking us with the punishment. Our chance came that very next day.

The plan was set in motion. We were going to oil on the floor in the girls cabin, then we would put invisible glue on a seat in the lunchroom, and at night we were going to put the fake bear in the mess hall right inside the girls' cabin door.

I woke to a scream from the next cabin over. That was the girls' cabin. Someone must have slipped on the oil our friend Dan put down while the girls were sleeping. All the boys high-fived each other and went to the mess hall to eat breakfast. Me and my friends snickered when we saw who we got. It was "Icky" Vicky Jones, the meanest, nastiest girl of them all. She had an ice-pack on her head, and was covered in oil. She looked as hideous as ever.

During our free time before lunch, we sent Joe, the sneakiest kid in our group, to go put the glue on the seat. He told us that he thought someone saw him, but no one believed him. He said it was the seat on the very end, where Mean Jean Green sat. Her parents named her Jean because it rhymed with Green. Jean was very mean and that also rhymed with Green.

They blew the whistle to go to lunch, and we couldn't wait to see Jean get stuck. And sure enough, she did. She sat down and then tried to get up, but the chair came up with her. They couldn't get her out of the chair, so she had to go to the bathroom with the chair and change out of the chair. When they brought the chair out, it had jeans stuck to it.

Later that night, all the boys were called to the camp office. "We know what you've done", Mrs. Jenkins exclaimed, "Vicky saw Daniel put the something on the floor, and forgot all about it when she went to go take a shower this morning. One of the counselors saw Joseph put something on the seat, but didn't know what it was. It turned out to be the glue.", Mrs. Jenkins was furious now, "I thought you learned from your punishment, but I guess not. If you guys pull one more prank, you will be sent home immediately!" That's when we heard it, the screaming from the girl's cabin. We rushed over to the cabin and there it was, the big fake bear.

"You're coming with me", Mrs. Jenkins said. The girls made a long oooo as we walked with Mrs. Jenkins to her office. All the boys expected Mrs. Jenkins to say something really mean, but she said "I guess boys will be boys."

"Does that mean we're staying?" I asked hopefully.

     "Yes", she replied.

     Everyone made a long yesss

"But, if I catch you pulling anymore pranks, you will  be sent home", she replied, "Now go back to your cabins and have a good night sleep." She explained.

We were kicked out of camp the very next day. The boys got even.

I wish I knew what happened the next day. Otherwise I liked the part where the chair came out of the bathroom with jeans stuck to and her name is Jean. Good COPS.
